Tread of Pioneers

Tread of Pioneers is housed in the Zimmerman House which was built in 1901 by Earnest Campbell and sold to E.H. Zimmerman in 1913. The Zimmerman family lived in the house until 1956 when it was purchased by the County. The Tread of Pioneers Museum opened in the house and was founded in 1959 by a group of Routt County residents keen on preserving the memories and artifacts of Routt County’s unique and colorful history. The Museum’s name is derived from a John Greenleaf Whittier quotation: “I hear the tread of pioneers of nations yet to be, the first low wash of waves where soon will roll a human sea.”

Local Independent Businesses Are Our Favorites

At LoLo, we’re head over heels for local independent businesses, and for good reason! These heroes are what make our communities truly special. Did you know that neighborhoods with thriving indie shops see home values outperform others by a whopping 50%? Supporting local means, you’re not just enjoying unique goods but boosting your property value too! Plus, these local gems create two-thirds of private-sector jobs, keeping our friends and family employed right here at home. And here’s the kicker: for every $100 spent at a local business, an extra $58 stays in our local economy. That’s more money for better schools, safer streets, and everything that makes a community remarkable. When we support local independents, we’re not just spreading delight – we’re investing in the very heart and soul of our neighborhoods.
