Fair State Brewing Cooperative

Our story starts on the rugby pitch, where founders Evan Sallee, Niko Tonks, and Matt Hauck first met while playing for rival teams. Once competition turned into friendship, the idea of founding a brewery started simmering while homebrewing together. After the three founders had beers together at Black Star Co-op in Austin, the notion of a cooperatively owned brewery came to life. Fair State Co-op became the first cooperatively-owned brewery in Minnesota, and the third in the country, when the taproom doors opened on September 6, 2014. Membership is currently over 2,000 and growing stronger every day.

Local Independent Businesses Are Our Favorites

At LoLo, we’re head over heels for local independent businesses, and for good reason! These heroes are what make our communities truly special. Did you know that neighborhoods with thriving indie shops see home values outperform others by a whopping 50%? Supporting local means, you’re not just enjoying unique goods but boosting your property value too! Plus, these local gems create two-thirds of private-sector jobs, keeping our friends and family employed right here at home. And here’s the kicker: for every $100 spent at a local business, an extra $58 stays in our local economy. That’s more money for better schools, safer streets, and everything that makes a community remarkable. When we support local independents, we’re not just spreading delight – we’re investing in the very heart and soul of our neighborhoods.
