The Gulf light has a quality here that takes about a week to stop noticing. The tram through the mangroves starts running early, and in Pelican Bay that's part of the routine. North Naples organized itself around the Gulf, and Pelican Bay is where it's most established. Residents know the beach before breakfast and the wine shop by name. After enough seasons, they've figured out which back table at Artis-Naples has the best acoustics. It's a community that's had time to figure itself out. Further east, the neighborhoods along Immokalee Road are newer and still finding their rhythm. The gated communities are prosperous and well-kept, the families mostly relocated, the Saturday mornings still taking shape. Both halves of North Naples chose this place deliberately. One half has been here long enough to have well-planted habits and the other is still enjoying the excitement of discovery.
