LoLo was founded to Keep the Local Vibe Alive.

Our motto, “Locals Supporting Locals,” embodies our mission to build thriving local communities that are more connected and therefore more sustainable. People are starting to crave that personal connection with the businesses they support. We believe that small businesses are the cornerstone of communities and sadly face the most pressure and competition from chains and online spending. LoLo’s relationship marketing platform helps bridge the gap between professionals who want to stay engaged with their network and the local businesses in the communities they operate.

Initially born from the frustration that credit card rewards were only good for travel and national chains, not beloved local businesses, co-founders Clark Harris and Matthew Simpson combined their passion for local and their backgrounds in technology to start LoLo in 2012. Their goal was to develop a marketing program for small businesses that was financially sustainable, wouldn’t rely on discounts and could run passively behind the scenes. They wanted to help preserve the face to face aspect of small business America and the unique vibe that local businesses give communities.

What started as a rewards program grew into something more in the summer of 2015. Beverly-Hanks & Associates Real Estate approached LoLo to help them create an innovative way for their agents to stay engaged with their clients. LoLo launched the Local Gift of the Month campaign in the Winter of 2016. The campaign allowed agents to enroll clients in the relationship marketing campaign that would send a different local gift each month sourced from local, independent merchants. Unlike typical marketing campaigns that involve small businesses, LoLo is not asking for discounts and coupons which devalue the product. LoLo reimburses the vendor partners for gifts that are redeemed at their location. LoLo costs the small business nothing and brings awareness and foot traffic to their locations.

After seeing the success of the program - from keeping the agents top-of-mind with their network to driving foot traffic to local businesses; LoLo began to grow its network of Enterprise clients in cities across the US. We look for partners that have a ‘we’ mentality, not a ‘me’ mentality. That mindset has led to LoLo expanding to markets across the country while partnering with over 2,500 small businesses to help them thrive so that we can Keep the Local Vibe Alive.
